The field of NLP was co-created by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in the 1970s. While NLP's traditional use was in psychotherapy and counselling, components of the theory of NLP have been adapted for use in learning and development.
NLP proposes that people learn through all five sensory modalities. Three of these modalities are critical for effective adult learning in a corporate environment:
- Visual (see)
- Auditory (hear)
- Kinesthetic (do)
